F@#!

Bruno Mars was here in concert on June 3, I attended the show with my sister. When Bruno's song "Billionare" is played on the radio it is a watered down version of the original. The opening line is changed from "I wanna be a billionaire so fucking bad" to "I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad." The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council decides what to censor. I believe that the song on the radio played during the daytime is censored because the audience listening may be very young. Daytime radio is accessible to all ages so without censorship a five year old child could be listening to the word "fucking." By censoring the song to say "fricking" it says that the CBSC has decided it inappropriate for young kids to hear the original version. My sister was not aware of the original verse. When Bruno sang the original she exclaimed "OMG!" Her reaction to that one word. Because the radio plays an altered version of this song the true version was lost on my sister. It is more accepted that Bruno Mars can literally say "fucking" at his concert because the audience is smaller than that of the radio audience. Also there is a general public understanding that concerts are for an older audience and will expose you to swearing and people being rowdy.
